Os caracteres das larvas (filosomas) nos estágios X e XI de Panulirus echinatus são descritos. As principais diferenças entre estes estágios de desenvolvimento e a morfologia dos estágios larvais de outras espécies que ocorrem no Atlântico Ocidental, tais como: forma do escudo cefálico; relação escudo cefálico/ tórax; comprímento das antenas; formas dos maxilipedes e exopoditos; morfologia externa do abdome, são analisadas e discutidas.

Characteristic features of the stages X and XI of the larvae of Panulirus echinatus are described. The morphological diffrences between the stages of larvae and that of other three western Atlantic ocean species such as shape of cephalic shield, relation between cephalic shield and thorax, the shape of the maxillipedes and exopodites and external morphology of the abdomen were studied and discussed.
