Com o objetivo de obter conhecimentos sobre os aspectos biológico e pesqueiro da Plagusia depressa, foram realizadas coletas mensais em Tamandaré, litoral sul de Pernambuco, no período de setembro/00 a agosto/01. Maior produtividade (número de indivíduos/hora de captura) ocorreu entre setembro/00 e março/01 e em junho/01. Foram coletados 1.440 indivíduos, dos quais 638 eram machos e 802 fêmeas. Determinou-se o comprimento e largura da carapaça, o peso total e, macroscopicamente, observaram-se as fêmeas ovígeras. O comprimento total das carapaças dos machos variou entre 12mm em fevereiro e 52mm em setembro, com média de 38,9mm e variância média de 43,4mm2. As fêmeas variaram entre 15mm em maio e 55mm em janeiro com média de 40,2mm e variância de 37,7mm2. As fêmeas ovadas participaram, em média, com 85% no período do trabalho, porém com picos em agosto e dezembro. O comprimento da carapaça das fêmeas ovígeras variou de 15mm a 55mm, com média de 41mm. O recrutamento ocorreu entre abril e maio.

A population of the rock crab Plagusia depressa were investigated along the coast of the Tamandaré county (Northeast Brazilian coast) through monthly samples between September 2000 and August 2001, in order to contribute with the knowledge about biological, ecological and fishery characteristics of the species. The period of larger productivity (individuals/capture time) was recorded from September 2000 to March 2001 and in June 2001. Length and width of shells, besides individual weight were recorded. A macroscopic observation of the mature females was also carried out. Among the 1440 individuals sampled, were found 638 males and 802 females. The total length of the shells of the males varied between 12mm in February and 52mm in September, showing an average of 38.9mm and variance of 43.4mm. The total length of the shells of the females varied between 15mm in May and 55mm in January, showing an average of 40.2mm and variance of 37.7mm. On average, 85% of the females were mature during the sampling period, although picks were observed in August and December. The recruitment happened from May to April.
