Este trabalho divulga os resultados do estudo sistemático e ultra-estrututral sobre os moluscos pertencentes à família Caecidae Gray, 1850, dragados durante a expedição oceanográfica "CANOPUS", realizada ao largo dos estados compreendidos desde o Ceará até Sergipe, em profundidades que variaram entre 15 e 78 metros e durante o Programa REVIZEE - Prospecção, no estado de Pernambuco, em profundidades que variaram entre 100 e 520 metros. Foram estudados 110 exemplares de Caecum Fleming, 1813, determinando 12 espécies: C. brasilicum Folin, 1874; C. pulchellum Stimpson, 1851; C. eliezeri Absalão; C. circunvolutum Folin, 1867; C. achironum (Folin, 1867); C. johnsoni Winkley, 1908; C. striatum Folin, 1875; C. cycloferum Folin, 1867; C. floridanum Stimpson, 1851; C. imbricatum Carpenter, 1857; C. ryssotitum Folin, 1867; C. cubitatum Folin, 1868. Dentre as espécies estudadas C. eliezeri Absalão e C. imbricatum Carpenter, 1857, não estavam registradas para o Nordeste do Brasil. Com estes resultados, amplia-se o número de espécies conhecidas para esta região. O material foi obtido ao largo da Plataforma Continental brasileira com o apoio da Marinha do Brasil, Departamento de Geologia da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco e do Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e Recursos Naturais Renováveis - IBAMA/CEPENE.

This paper reports the results of taxonomic and superestructural studies on the
benthic mollusks of family Caecidae Gray, 1850 which were dredged during the R.V. Canopus research expedition performed off the coastal area from Ceará to Sergipe States, in the 15 –78 meters depth range, and during R.V. Natureza research expedition (REVIZEE Program) performed off Pernambuco State in the 100-500 meters depth range. One hundred specimens of Caecum Fleming, 1813 were studied, leading to the identification of 12 species: C. brasilicum Folin, 1874; C. pulchellum Stimpson, 1851; C. eliezeri Absalão; C. circunvolutum Folin, 1867; C. achironum (Folin, 1867); C. johnsoni Winkley, 1908; C. striatum Folin, 187; C. cycloferum Folin, 1867; C. floridanum Stimpson, 1851; C. imbricatum Carpenter, 187; C. ryssotitum Folin, 1867; C. cubitatum Folin, 1868. Among the analyzed species, C. eliezeri Absalão , 1997 and C. imbricatum Carpenter,1857, composed the first record of their presence on the Northeastern coast of Brazil.
