Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo documentar o fenômeno de agregação ou "correição" da cavala, Scomberomorus cavalla (Cuvier, 1829). As informações foram coletadas através de um embarque de 70 dias e dez entrevistas abertas com pescadores da cidade de Camocim-CE. A pesca é realizada sobre um recife submerso denominado de "pedra das cavalas", com cerca de 20 milhas náuticas de extensão, aproximadamente 12 m de altura e localizado sobre a plataforma continental em frente à cidade de São Luís - MA. A pesca é feita com linha de mão e ocorre no período de outubro a fevereiro. Os pescadores atribuem o fenômeno da "correição" à agregação reprodutiva da cavala.

This research aimed to document the aggregation phenomenon of "correição" of king mackerel, Scomberomorus cavalla (Cuvier, 1829). Information was collected from a 70 days onboard observer trip and ten open interviews with fishermen from the city of Camocim (Ceará state, Northeast of Brazil). Fishing operations are carried out on a submerged reef, named "Pedra das cavalas", about twenty miles of extension, approximately 12m in height and located on the continental shelf in front of São Luís city (Maranhão state, Northeast of Brazil). The fishing is done with hand line and occurs between October and February. The fishermen attribute this phenomenon to spawning aggregation of the king mackerel.
