Technical exchange trip to Alto Paraiso de Goias & PNCV

The Jalapão Corridor Project final activitie was held in Alto Paraíso de Goias, from 3rd to 6th October, along the most beautiful natural attractions of the Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros. A group of 25 representatives from four municipalities in Jalapão supported by the project, formed by environmental councils and secretaries, protected area staff and JICA consultantes, visited Alto Paraíso de Goiás to meet the local environmental council and City Hall.

The purposes of the trip was, by exchanging views and knowledge with people in Alto Paraiso & PNCV, to learn how to implement and integrate different actions of different actors for the conservation of biodiversity and environmental protection. Another objetive of the visit was to observe examples of advanced tourism industry happening, boutique pousadas and classy restaurantes, rustic chic pizzaria, and to get ideas to be tried back home in their municipalities.

After Carla (PNCV manager) presented their experience in park management and about the relationship the local community, we used a service road to access by pick-up the some of the touristic attractions in the park. Few waterfalls and lookouts later we had a final evaluation of the experience and representatives from each municipalitie exposed their ideas for their own town.

We hope that this activity can reinforce a network of the people in Alto Paraiso & PNCV and Jalapao to continue exchange of knowledge in future.
