Summit Hill's Smoke, ESEC Serra Geral do TocantinsInserted in the eastern portion of the state of Tocantins, bordering the states of Bahia, Maranhãoand Piauí, the Region of Jalapão has an estimated area of 43.881,14 square kilometers,comprising 10 municipalities and is embedded in the area of the Cerrado.

The landscape is marked by large areas of plains and landforms, and the Serra Geral doTocantins and Chapada Mangabeiras are important aquifer recharge areas, housing the headwaters of tributaries of three major river basins in Brazil: Tocantins, and Parnaíba São Francisco, which transforms the Jalapão in a strategic region for the country.
