Este trabalho trata da pesca de linguados no estado do Rio de Janeiro (Brasil), com base nas capturas de camaroneiros (1993 – 1997), que alcançaram 512,5 t no total do período; os maiores desembarques ocorreram na primavera – verão e os menores no outono. A grande área de pesca fica entre Macaé e a ponta de Juatinga; as maiores capturas se realizaram em torno das ilhas Rasa e Tijucas, mantendo-se elevadas em todas as estações do ano. Os linguados foram capturados em profundidades de até 180 m , concentrando-se entre 41 – 50 m e 71 – 120 m, independentemente das estações do ano. A produtividade das pescarias atingiu a média anual de 5,7 kg/lance =1,7 kg/hora de arrasto, crescendo da primavera para o outono; a maior abundância foi encontrada ao largo da Ilha Grande e da Marambaia, sendo elevada ao longo do ano. Considerando as profundidades, os melhores índices de abundância foram encontrados entre 21 – 30 m e 81 – 120 m; o máximo correspondeu a 111 – 120 m, alcançando 19,8 kg/lance = 4,1 kg/hora de arrasto.

This paper deals with the catches of flatfishes in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), made by shrimp-trawlers (1993 – 1997), that reached 512.5 t during the studied period; the highest landings occurred in spring–summer and lowest in autumn. The great fishing area remains between Macaé and the tip of Juatinga. The best catches were made around the Rasa and Tijucas islands, being high in all year seasons. The flatfishes were caught until 180 m in depth, with concentrations between 41 – 50 m and 71 – 120 m, independently of year seasons. The fishery productivity reached the annual average of 5.7 kg/haul = 1.7 kg/hour of haul, increasing from spring to autumn; the highest abundance was found off Ilha Grande and Marambaia, being elevated
around the year. As concerning the depths, the best abundance indexes were recorded between 21 – 30 m and 81 – 120 m, with maximum in 111 – 120 m, reaching 19.8 kg/haul = 4.1 kg/hour of haul.
