According FUNATURA (2011), planning for the management of national states in the territories has been structured as population growth and economic development of their municipalities. The instruments of territorial organization and environmental management are important tools for regional development.

In the target area have already implemented some of the infrastructural elements of regional development. The road system stand the BR-135 and TO-255 and several municipal roads and endogenous (private). The BR-135 is a very important transport corridor road in Brazil, connecting the South and the North East and Northeast. It passes through the target area over the municipalities of Corrente, Gilbués and São Gonçalo do Gurguéia, in Piauí and Formosa do Rio Preto in Bahia. In turn, the TO-255 connects the municipalities of Lagoa da Confusão and Cristalândia, both in Tocantins.

It also appears the existence of 17 airstrips, not homogeneously dispersed in the municipalities of the target area and the construction of a hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in Ponte Alta do Tocantins, the inventory of a Small Hydro Power (SHP Manoel Alvinho) in Rio da Conceição and three hydropower plants and inventoried in the municipalities of Almas, Mateiros and Rio Sono, all municipalities tocantinenses.
